Boost Electrical Safety at Home

While doing research on the Internet, I came across this article on HGTV’s website. It speaks about maintaining and boosting the electrical system in your home. I touches on topics like GFCIs, circuit boxes, flickering lights, and outlet safety.

Another great thing about this read is the checklist it provides to keep your household running smoothly and safely. As well as the energy saving tips.

One Call and you’re Done!

When it comes to installing new post lights along your driveway, a few things come to mind. Trenching and backfilling are probably the more worrisome.

We recently had our licensed electricians replace an existing post light and add a new one (closer to the house) for a customer in Doylestown. We took care of the trenching and backfilling. We also installed a PVC pipe in the ground as a conduit for the wire between the two post lights.

Our licensed electricians do the complete job, no need to hire anyone else. The only thing you need to do is grow some grass and you’re done.

Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors in other parts of your home:

Last week we mentioned how occupancy/vacancy sensors aer great to have in your basement, mainly for those who forget to turn the lights off. Another great way to utilize occupancy/vacancy sensors is in the laundry room and even as a hallway nightlight for the little ones.

An occupancy/vacancy sensor in the laundry room can save you from having to put down the basket or trying to turn the lights on or off with your elbow. the lights will automatically turn on an off as they sense motion, or the lack of it.

Setting up an occupancy/vacancy sensor as a hallway nightlight helps to keep little one safe. Children are more likely to get up  in the middle of the night from time to time. Setting up the sensor with a dimmed light makes it simple for them to see where they are going without shocking them fully awake. The light will also turn off when they eventually get back into bed.

Is your Meter Socket not secured to your Siding Properly?

If not corrected a sagging or improperly mounted meter socket can cause unsafe condition for your home. We can solve your problem permanently by installing a siding Meter block to create a safe and water tight installation.

Take a look at the photo on the right. Take note of the white square block mounted behind the electrical meter. Our licensed electricians recently handled this installation for our customer in Hatfield.

We are proud to announce that we have added another licensed electrician to our team: Chip Coff

Chip started working with us in March. With more than 18 years in the trade, 6 of which he spent operating his own business, he brings a wealth of practical work experience with him to his position.

In addition to electrical contracting, he has worked as a volunteer firefighter for the past 16 years. Chip is also a certified medical technician. The next time you see him in the field, please join us in welcoming Chip Coff to the Wes Carver Electric team.

Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors in your Basement are a Nice Way to Solve a Common Problem

Does your spouse or even your kids go into the basement and leave the lights on even when they aren’t occupying the space?   Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors are a great way to eliminate this problem.

Lutron’s Occupancy/Vacancy Sensors will detect motion in the room and then turn on the lights. A timer will be set to turn them off once an allotted time with no movement has passed.

Save money on light bulbs and your electric bill by having our licensed electricians install Lutron’s Sensors in your home.

We would like to welcome our new Electrician Chip…
